Residents of the home in the 19600 block of Club Lake Road woke up to a fire alarm around 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16 after unattended burning incense sparked a massive fire, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson.

The fire began in a second-floor bedroom, with the incense igniting curtains.

Smoke alarms alerted the sleeping occupant of the home, with a delayed alarm to the fire department as occupants attempted to fight the fire on their own to no avail, according to officials.

A total of 11 people have been displaced after the fire, which reportedly damaged three townhomes, according to Fire and Rescue officials.

Total damages have been estimated to be around $380,000.
